My Own Amusing

I'll start with the reason for the name "My Own Amusing." It has several meanings, the first, and most shallow of which is I intend this blog to be a place to put my poetry, ideas, and thoughts because I enjoy writing them down.

I did a good job keeping a journal when I was young and as a result I like to sit and think for a while then record what I thought. Lots of times that comes out in poetry which, for the most part, I keep to myself on whatever scraps of paper where at hand at the moment. Then I collect them in a poetry journal. That's a hobby I've always enjoyed and I would like to continue it here. In addition, with a blog I can pretend that my poetry will become really meaningful to others too and will be vastly followed by the whole Internet.

The second meaning is a pun on the word muse. As I said, this blog will be parchment for my pondering, questioning, and search for truth. It will be as true to myself as my journal. I have another blog in which I intend to blog about my work in the education field and it's not that I won't be true there as well, certainly I will be. But in this blog I won't have to look for material or worry if it will interest the right audience. If the audience never grows past one, I will be content to simple sit here and ponder every once in a while by myself.

The third intended meaning is regarding "my own." My own are my family and close friends. Someday my children will grow and will be interested in my past and their beginning. They will be able to look here, supposing there is still a "here" for it to be, and see much written about themselves and it will be important to them the same way everything my mother has ever said or written about me is extremely important to me. And my friends are included in "my own" because I believe this life is mostly about the way we love others and I want to have friends so dear to me they are more like family. For you friends who stumble upon this, I'm trying to be better.

So here I go, a new blog started, sometimes to be serious, sometimes wacky, sometimes sincere, and sometimes comical. But always me. Now on to my own amusing...
